Abstract
The role of safety management in loading and unloading activities (observation results at PT. Rimo Transport Expressindo) is very important. If awareness of safety in loading and unloading activities is still ignored, it will have serious consequences if something undesirable happens. In any case, one of which is work, we must be able to manage safety in order to reduce the occurrence of something undesirable. You need to know that in safety management we have to know several important things. From using personal protective equipment (PPE) or also known as Personal Protective Equipment and also understanding the function of safety equipment. Several things that must be done as a crew member require learning in many ways. Both from direct and indirect experience. Safety at work is very important in order to minimize, avoid and protect oneself from accidents and injuries that could occur at any time. Loading and unloading activities at ports often involve various risks related to crew safety. Effective safety management is crucial in mitigating these risks and ensuring a safe working environment for workers. Research findings show that implementing effective safety management practices, such as worker training, use of personal protective equipment, close supervision, and a strong safety culture, has a significant impact on reducing workplace accidents and injuries, as well as increasing awareness of potential risks. The practical implication of this research is the need to increase investment and commitment in safety management efforts in the loading and unloading work environment at ports, both from a managerial and policy perspective. This research provides an important contribution to the understanding of how safety management can play a role in creating a safe and healthy work environment in the context of loading and unloading activities at ports.
