Abstract
A watertight door is a safety device on a ship. This is equipment to prevent water from entering the parts of the ship. Watertight doors also equipment as a means of reducing noise in the engine room. Watertight doors and windows on a ship are inseparable equipment. This door is made using steel so that it is strong enough to withstand water pressure. By maintaining watertight doors, safety on the ship can be maintained. The purpose of this paper is to determine the factors that cause damage to the watertight doors and function to prevent water from entering the KN SAR PERMADI 249 ship. The data collection method in this paper the observation, interview paper, documentation and study method. References. Another aim of this scientific paper is to find out how to maintain and repair watertight doors. The results of the discussion in this scientific paper are that maintenance and repair of watertight doors that do not comply with procedures can result in damage. Lack of lubricating the components on the watertight door and painting the watertight door must be done carefully so that the watertight door can function optimally. In conclusion, maintenance and repair of watertight doors can support safety on board the ship. Keywords: Watertight Doors, maintenance, repair.
