Abstract

The general service pump is an auxiliary device that has a dual function or can be used for various purposes, namely for the fire hydrant system, water ballast system, bilge system and cooling main engine system. This paper was created to find out the causes of damage to general service pumps, to find out about maintenance and repairs on general service pumps. Therefore, the author uses a method by conducting observations, interviews and data documentation during practice at the PT Office. Samudra Adhi Jaya Rembang. During general service pump maintenance, leaks often occur in the suction pipe of the pump which will cause air to enter the suction pipe. Mechanical seals on the pump that are too thick can result in the installation of the bolts on the flange being reduced. Meanwhile, the general pump service maintenance schedule is carried out routinely, namely weekly maintenance, six-month maintenance and annual maintenance. The consequences of lack of general service pump maintenance on the ship's main engine include: the main machine becomes hot, the rotation of the main engine drops automatically. In writing this paper, it can be concluded that the causes of the general service pump not working optimally include a leak in the suction pipe so that air enters and causes damage to the general service pump. And it is recommended to carry out routine maintenance on general service pumps. Keywords: General Service Pump, Main Machine, Maintenance.
