Abstract
The safety of freight cars itself is a common problem in the implementation of transportation systems in many countries. In developing countries. including in Indonesia. The safety of freight cars tends to increase. This study aims to determine the effect of driver compliance, vehicle conditions and road conditions on the safety of freight transportation. The population in this study was freight drivers in Tambolaka city and the sample number was 94 respondents. The sampling technique used is nonprobability sampling type simple incidental, then the data is analyzed using multiple linear regression with the help of (software) Statistical Package For Social Science (SPSS) Version 25. The formulation of regression in this study is as follows: Y= 0,886 + 0,343 X1 + 0,198 X2 + 0,367 X3 + µ From this equation, it is known that the most dominant variable affecting the safety of freight transportation is the road condition variable with a regression coefficient of 0.367. The R2 (R Square) test obtained results of 0.579 or 57.9% of freight transport safety (Y) which can be explained by independent variables, namely driver compliance variables (X1), vehicle conditions (X2) and road conditions (X3). While the rest (100% - 57.9% = 42.1%) was explained by other variables outside the model that were not described in this study. Such as knowledge of traffic and law enforcement. The conclusion in this research states that the variables of driver compliance, vehicle condition, road conditions have a positive and significant effect on the safety of goods transportation.
