Abstract
Indonesia, which consists of thousands of islands, reaching 13,446 islands, is known as a maritime country because the sea area is larger than the land area, about 2/3 of the total area of Indonesia. Sea transportation as part of the National transportation system needs to unite all regions of Indonesia. Safety is a state of being safe, in a condition that is physically, socially, spiritually, financially, politically, emotionally, occupationally, psychologically or educationally safe and protected from threats to these factors. In a shipping activity safety is a ve ry important factor and is always maintained in order to create zero accidents. The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of the independent variables namely the Responsibility of the Carrier, the Crew and the Loading and Unloading Process, for the dependent variable namely Sailing Safety. The population in this study were 100 people consisting of ship crews and office employees of PT. Jemla Ferry Ketapang branch which has a classification of knowledge about shipping safety and the sample in this study is 100 respondents with the technique used is the census sample technique where the number of samples is equal to the number of population. The census sample is the entire population available as a sample of 100 people taken from the ship's crew and office employees at PT. Jemla Ferry Ketapang Branch. Data collection was carried out through the method of Observation, Library Studies, Interviews, Documentation and Questionnaires using multiple linear regression analysis with the help of (Software) Statistical Package For Social Science (SPSS). The results of the research by testing the t-test hypothesis show that the variables of Carrier's Responsibility, Ship's Crew and Loading and Unloading Process have a positive and significant effect on Shipping Safety at PT. Jemla Ferry Ketapang branch. Based on the results of the study it can be seen that the research model of the multiple linear regression equation is Y=2.898+0.436X1+0.214X2+0.189X3+µ. From the results of the regression it can be seen that the most dominant variable influencing shipping safety is the carrier's responsibility variable with a regression coefficient of 0.436. With the r square test of 0.526 or 52.6% which means that the increase in shipping safety at PT. Jemla Ferry Ketapang branch is influenced by the responsibility of the Carrier, Crew and Loading and Unloading Process which is equal to 52.6% and other factors that affect the improvement of shipping safety at PT.
