Abstract
The contents of this paper aim to better understand how to carry out maintenance of main engine intake and exhaust valves and to better understand the factors that can support maintenance of main engine intake and exhaust valves so that main engine operations can be carried out in accordance with procedures. This research was carried out at KN. EDAM for approximately four months, from 09 August 2022 to 09 December 2022. The source of the data obtained was primary data obtained directly from the research site by means of observation and by giving interview questions to the ship's crew at KN. EDAM to gain an understanding of maintenance on suction valves and exhaust valves, as well as literature related to scientific paper titles. The results obtained after being analyzed showed that there was damage to the suction valve and exhaust valve due to lack of maintenance and damage to the suction valve and exhaust valve was caused by not carrying out maintenance according to the maintenance schedule.
