Abstract
Abstract SOLAS is the most important regulation governing maritime safety. In SOLAS Chapter VII regulates the transport of dangerous goods by ships, with dangerous goods defined as any substance, material or article covered by the IMDG Code. Chapter VII Carriage of Dangerous Goods, Part A-1 -Dangerous goods in solid form in bulk. Part B Dangerous liquid chemicals in bulk. Part C Liquefied gases in bulk. Part D Packaged irradiated nuclear fuel, plutonium and high-level radioactive waste. Dangerous cargo is all types of cargo that require special handling, all goods whose nature, characteristics and circumstances pose a danger to the safety or health of humans and other living things. This scientific paper aims to find out how to handle dangerous goods. This research method is descriptive qualitative. Data collection methods used are observation techniques, and interviews. Methods of data analysis using descriptive qualitative. Based on the results of the handling research that will be used as the object of research is the handling of thinner by PT. TPIL at the SPIL Depot. The handling also has a license for handling dangerous goods which complies with the MSDS. The operational procedure system for handling is very good in handling dangerous goods. Dangerous goods also have their respective hazard class levels, namely Explosive, Gases, Flammable Liquid, Flammable Solid, Oxidizer, Toxic, Radioactive, Corrosives, Miscellaneous. With the operational procedure system that has been implemented by PT SPIL, it will be safer and there will be no fatal damage during the delivery or storage of dangerous goods.
