Abstract
In carrying out operational activities, ship agency companies must carry out activities correctly and on time so that all ship operational activities run smoothly. Ship clearance in-out activities are one of the vital activities in ship operations. In order for this activity to run smoothly, the agency company must prepare all the documents needed by the ship so that the clearance process is more effective and efficient. The purpose of writing this paper is to find out the method or strategy for how to optimize ship agency services to ship owners so that the agency can continue to be trusted in the in-out clearance process by the ship owner, to find out the cause of the less than optimal clearance document service Based on data collection carried out by the writer during the Land Practice (Prada) the writing used several qualitative methods including observation, literature study, documentation and data analysis. In optimizing clearance in and clearance out services where the agent must try to provide the best service to the ship owner so that the owner is satisfied with the agent's performance, the satisfaction referred to in ship service includes, the process of clearance in/out which is not complicated, the process of docking the ship according to according to procedures, prepare the documents needed by the ship, the costs given are in accordance with the agreed rates and do not add other costs, the loading and unloading process runs smoothly, does not give or exaggerate offers to the ship owner with the intention so that they are lured, Evidence of service quality can be in the form of physical facilities such as; ship berthing process, clearance, service to the ship and the appearance of the service provider, equipment and tools used to provide services, clear cost reports in accordance with the agreement and ship security while docking at the port.
