Abstract
Fire drill is a training program that must be implemented on the ship according to the rules contained in the book Safety Of Life At Sea (SOLAS) Chapter III Regulation 9.3.4, and every crew must have knowledge and skills in the operation of fire extinguishers according to the rules of the Standard Of Training Certification and Watchkeeping For Seafarer (STCW) table A-VI/1-2. The purpose of this research is to find out the fire extinguishers on board, besides that this research also aims to find out the benefits and obstacles in the training that should be applied to improve the knowledge and skills of the crew in relation to the procedures for using fire extinguishers at KN SAR Antasensa. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method, data collection is done by interview, observation, documentation and literature study. The results showed that, the main cause of the failure of the implementation of fire drills at KN SAR Antasena is the lack of knowledge of the crew on the procedures for using fire extinguishers, lack of discipline and low awareness of the dangers that can be caused. The efforts applied to improve the knowledge and skills of the crew in relation to fire extinguishers at KN SAR Antasena i are to carry out regular fire drills at least once a month according to the rules contained in the Safety Of Life At Sea book, safety movies, familiarization with modern tools and solas training, must be optimized by the crew.
