Abstract
Abstract In line with the implementation of development in Indonesia whose main target is in the field of economic development, trade activity is one of the sectors of economic development, its role is constantly growing and developing, to facilitate the flow of goods and services to support these trading activities. PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional III Surabaya, Kalimas Terminal division is a traditional port in the city of Surabaya which is still used as a place for loading/unloading General Cargo goods, especially from wooden ships, barges and boats. The purpose of this writing is to find out the process of handling general cargo goods carried out at the Kalimas Terminal division in Surabaya, the supporting equipment used in the process of handling general cargo, as well as the obstacles and solutions in the implementation of loading and unloading handling of general cargo goods. The method used in writing this paper uses data on observation objects, as well as collections of documentation and data related to general cargo goods handling activities. The results of observations are that the implementation of general cargo goods handling activities is in accordance with the work instructions for handling general cargo goods that have been set by PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional III Surabaya Kalimas Terminal Division. Where the results of these observations are in accordance with the problems that the authors found such as data handling and the emergence of obstacles during the activity. In carrying out general cargo goods handling activities it is supported by supporting equipment as service facilities or basic tools to support the work of handling General Cargo goods.
