Abstract

Indonesia is also called a maritime country because Indonesia is the largest archipelagic country in the world with an ocean area of approximately 3,273,810 km or most of the territory of Indonesia is a territorial waters. Apart from being known as a maritime country, Indonesia is also known as the country that gave birth to reliable sailors. But there are also many problems in the world of shipping that occur in Indonesia because Indonesian-flagged vessels are not in accordance with applicable regulations. So Indonesia formed an organizational body that handles the field of survey and classification of any type of vessel, namely the Indonesian Classification Bureau. The Indonesian Classification Bureau is tasked with surveying ships to be used for sailing. If it is not feasible to use, BKI has the right not to issue the vessel certification. The purpose of the establishment of the Indonesian Classification Bureau is for sailing safety and cargo that will be carried on sailing and prevent pollution from ships in the event of an accident at sea and always preserve the sea.
