Abstract

Batteries are electro-chemical devices made to supply electricity to engine starting systems, ignition systems, lights and other electrical components. What is meant by the process of converting chemical energy into electric power, and vice versa from electric power into chemical energy. In this paper, how is the battery maintenance system, how is the battery charging system, and how to apply batteries in series and parallel. A battery is a tool used to store a source of electrical energy through an electro-chemical process, namely the chemical process is converted into electric power (during the discharge process) and vice versa, from electric power it is converted into a chemical process (during the charging process). The current that comes from the battery is direct current or DC current. The data collection method used in this paper is battery maintenance at KM Dharma Rucitra 1, namely by data collection methods such as: Observation, interview, library research, and documentary. Data collection was obtained from interviews on board and from office. Observations were made when going through the process of turning on the generator engine. In the process of turning on, the battery is the main source. The cause of loss of battery power is due to prolonged use, being used beyond its capacity, overcharging (charging), and lack of water in the battery. The conclusion of this paper is that the battery is a source of electric power that produces voltage by converting chemical energy into electrical energy and has a maintenance system so that the battery lasts longer. The battery has 3 methods of charging and deploying in series and parallel. In this case the battery level must always be controlled and the battery terminals checked because it affects the battery performance system. Keywords : How to work, power source, maintenance.
