Abstract

The injector is one of the main components contained in the prime mover engine, especially in the main engine fuel system, fuel injectors which are tools and media for atomizing and spraying fuel into the cylinder which is a system that functions as a support for the smooth running of the existing combustion system in the main engine. The injector functions to atomize fuel from the fuel injection pump into each cylinder and sequentially according to the firing order at the end of each compression stroke where the piston (piston) is 14° before Top Dead Point (TDC). The purpose of this research is to serve as a comparison material for readers to be able to understand how to prevent damage to injectors, especially those related to the world of shipping, find out the causes and consequences of injectors not working optimally and how to repair and maintain injectors so that fuel refueling becomes perfect. The methods used in this research are the observation method, the interview method, and the library method. The cause of interference and damage to the injector, which affects the process of fogging the fuel in the injector and the combustion system in the combustion chamber is the blockage of the nozzle orifice and dripping of fuel at the tip of the nozzle, resulting in incomplete combustion, due to dripping fuel causing smoke. black on the chimney. These results can be drawn conclusions that can be used as guidelines for carrying out routine and well-planned maintenance so that the fuel combustion process can be perfect.
