Abstract

The city of Semarang is the largest city in Central Java Province as well as being the main key in the shipping sector with its Tanjung Emas Port as a center. Work on a ship is always covered by various risks that threaten the safety of life, property and the environment. This is not just a mere statement or assumption, but has clearly happened since the emergence of shipping activities until now. SAR (search and rescue) is an activity and effort to search for, help and save human souls who are lost or worried that they will disappear or in the face of danger and disaster such as shipping, flights and disasters supported by safety equipment. Safety equipment is a means to minimize casualties in the event of an accident, therefore it is necessary to maintain and operate proper safety equipment, especially liferafts in emergency alert operations. To find out how to maintain and operate liferaft safety equipment, it is necessary to do research. The data collection method used by the author in this Scientific Writing uses a descriptive observation method with a qualitative approach, namely observation that explains the cause and effect of an event, as well as describes the entire process from the beginning of the event to the impact of the event. There are many processes and ways to carry out the maintenance and operation of the liferaft on the SAR Ship Sadewa 231 Semarang. Keywords: Maintenance and operation, Safety equipment, Liferaft, BASARNAS
