Abstract
Intercooler Engine Maintenance System At KM. Niki Sejahtera Cooling System (Intercooler) is one part of the box-shaped diesel engine located on the side or bottom of the turbocharger compressor, which is made of a thin layer of thin plates and serves to lower the air / compressed air temperature before entering the cylinder. The intercooler is one of the main supports for the main engine's performance, which is influenced by the intercooler in the rinse air as one element of the occurrence of combustion, with the working principle of cooling the rinse air so that it does not evaporate which will reduce the main engine's performance. Shipping services can be disrupted if the intercooler work on the rinse air temperature in the prime mover engine is problematic due to lack of knowledge about proper and proper maintenance, so that the intercooler does not work as expected by officers working in the engine room. Data collection carried out in KM. Niki Sejahtera is an interview, observation, and study of documents on board. The results of data collection in marine practice include factors that cause blockage of the intercooler air side on the propulsion engine and how the maintenance efforts are carried out to overcome the obstacles that occur in the intercooler, how to properly and correctly maintain the main engine intercooler, find out the problems what happens when the intercooler is damaged, and how the intercooler affects the performance of the main engine..
