Abstract

In the maritime world, ships have a very important role. In order to maintain the safety of the ship and crew, before the voyage is carried out, it is necessary to inspect the ship so that seaworthiness is realized according to applicable standards and competencies, in this case it is the main task and function of the ship safety inspector officer, especially in the Tanjung Emas Port, Semarang, after the ship and its documents have been inspected and deemed seaworthy, the ship and crew can sail. The purpose of this writing is to find out the roles, tasks, and obstacles faced by ship safety inspectors. The data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, documentation and literature studies so that they can be analyzed and conclusions drawn. The results of observations made at the Kesyahbandar Office and Class I Port Authority Tanjung Emas Semarang, the author conveys that the Kesyahbandar Office and Class I Port Authority Tanjung Emas Semarang have carried out according to applicable standards and competencies to realize ship seaworthiness and ship safety.
