Abstract
Sailing is a unitary system of several important parts that are interconnected consisting of transportation in waters, ports, safety and security, and protection of the maritime environment. The role of sea transportation, especially the world of shipping, is very important and can increase economic growth in a region, so that it requires an arrangement and improvement in its system and regulations in order to guarantee and realize security and safety in sailing. One form of implementing regulation and improvement of the shipping systems and regulations as an aid in operations is the GPS (Global Positioning System). GPS (Global Positioning System) is the only well-functioning navigation system that can function as a sensor that can receive input and output which is used to determine coordinates and waypoints. In a GPS-based control system, it is able to mobilize a ship automatically using the help of a microcontroller which functions as the center of the system used to regulate the ship’s movement at coordinates or waypoints so that the ship can go to the actual direction and destination. Safety is an effort made to be free or used to reduce the level of accident risk. Safety itself is the main thing that needs to be prioritized in any sector, including in the world of shipping itself. Safety and security of shipping is a condition in which the fulfillment of a requirement regarding safety and security concerning a transportation, whether in waters, ports, and the maritime environment itself Indonesian Economy.
