Abstract
A lifeboat is a safety device that functions as a boat to leave the ship when an emergency occurs. The occurrence of accidents on ships is due to the lack of care and knowledge of the officer in charge of safety equipment and the lack of knowledge, skills and experience of the crew. Following the lifeboat drill procedures that have been set by SOLAS Regulation 19, all ships are required to carry out the operating rules for the lifeboats without exception, including officers/crew who are on guard duty on board. The purpose of this research is to find out and understand the lifeboat maintenance procedures following applicable procedures to find out what are the impacts of lifeboat drill exercises on the safety of the crew on the KN Prajapati ship and to find out what actions can be taken during life-saving evacuations at sea. Collecting data of this paper uses library research and field research with observation and interview methods. The results of this study are knowing that the maintenance of lifeboats consists of several aspects, including checking the condition of the lifeboats, treating the goddesses, and ensuring the availability of equipment that must be met in lifeboats. This check must be carried out periodically every month by the officer in charge. In addition, the implementation of drill and training programs onboard is also important to familiarize the crew in dealing with emergencies. With the drill method that is carried out regularly, it can form the attitude of the crew to be responsive, fast, alert, and understand their respective duties following what is listed on the emergency certificate (Muster List). Keywords: Maintenance, Drill, Lifeboat.
