Abstract
Sandblasting is one of the easiest methods to remove rust and dirt such as paint, marine animals, and so on on the surface or to change the character of the surface of the material to either make it rougher or make a surface smoother. By applying the process in the system, namely dry sandblasting and wet sandblasting. Maintenance in the sandblasting process, can reduce corrosion and get perfect sandblasting results. From this process, good workmanship can be produced for seaworthiness on ships. The data collection methods used were the literature research method, observation method, and interview method. The result of the observation is that the author can find out the process of spraying material, usually in the form of silica sand or steel grit with high pressure on a surface of contaminated material such as rust, paint, marine animals, etc. The hammering test is the simplest method to determine the thickness of the skin plate or hull construction beam. plate material for a minimum of 20 years of operation. permitted based on the slab thickness rule philosophy when testing the thickness on the dock. The level of roughness can be adjusted according to the size of the sand and the pressure. painting is very dependent on the level of cleanliness and the degree of adhesion between the paint and the surface as well as the level of density and alignment of the paint itself. It is recommended that the ship sandblasting is carried out while docked, the rest of the ship's crew corrects the shortcomings to facilitate ship operations.
