Abstract
The seawater cooling system is used as a cooling medium in fresh water which cools a heat exchanger that can cool fresh water from a closed circuit. The cooling system is the main system that functions to maintain the auxiliary engine so that the engine temperature is in an ideal condition. Based on the heat balance, the cooling function of the auxiliary engine is necessary and important to do. Because the heat will be absorbed by the cooling system. Of the various problems in the cooling system, if the cooling system does not work properly. So it was found that there was damage to the seawater system as a coolant that was poorly maintained so that it reduced the performance of the auxiliary engine, and resulted in the heat of the auxiliary engine. So to make it easier to use the cooling system, it is necessary to have regular maintenance following the procedures from the manual. The writer uses descriptive writing method to obtain primary and secondary data. Primary data obtained by the author through direct observation through interviews with the crew of the ship's engine room. Secondary data is obtained through ship particulars, manual books, and maintenance management books. Based on the results of the analysis of the occurrence of damage to the cooling system, and repair of the cooling system to find out routine and periodic maintenance. The correct repair process according to the auxiliary engine manual, and heat prevention efforts by checking the circulation of seawater as a coolant and maintenance can be carried out in a predetermined time.
