Abstract
A lifeboat or rescue boat is a rigid or inflated boat designed to save human life in case of trouble at sea. Lifeboat generally refers to a vehicle carried by a larger ship for use by passengers and crew in an emergency. Based on the background of the problems in the maintenance and operation of the lifeboats, it can be formulated the problem of accidents at sea which is caused by the non-optimal work of the lifeboats and the need for maintenance of the lifeboats so that there is no damage and leakage in the lifeboats. The purpose of this paper is to help improve lifeboat performance to be more optimal in reducing accident victims on board and to help the lifeboat work process to be better with lifeboat maintenance to avoid damage and leakage. Therefore, the authors practice and observe for 4 months at PT. Java Bali Power Plant. In this paper, it can be concluded that the factors that caused the less than optimal performance of the lifeboats at PT. PJB Bawean is a lack of maintenance on the components of the lifeboats which causes the lifeboats to not work optimally and how to maintain lifeboats that need to be inspected periodically so that the lifeboats are not damaged and leaked and when operated, nothing is damaged.
