Abstract
General service pump is one of the needs that must be met and must be on a ship. General service itself is divided into several parts, namely the bilge system (Bilge System), ballast system (Ballast System), main fire system (Fire Main System), and seawater cooling. General service pump uses a centrifugal type pump, the working principle is to convert the kinetic energy (velocity) of the liquid into potential (dynamic) energy through an impeller that rotates in the casing to provide velocity to the liquid and convert it into high pressure (head). The purpose of this observation is to find out how to operate and the working principle of the general service pump, to determine the function of the general service pump for routine maintenance on the general service pump. , and the factors that cause damage to the general service pump. The data writing method used in this paper is the method of observation (Observation), interviews (Interviewing), literature (Library Research), documentation and literature study. The results sought, maintenance and repair of the general service pump (GS PUMP) include, routine maintenance is a daily inspection of equipment installed and in operation, predictive maintenance is a maintenance action that is observing objects by taking certain measurements, preventive maintenance work in the form of prevention and carried out on a regular basis with the aim of increasing equipment reliability and prolonging equipment life. In conclusion, routine maintenance and repairs on the general service pump (GS PUMP) are carried out to reduce the risk of component damage and extend the life of the general service pump (GS PUMP) which is useful for tackling marine pollution.
