Abstract
Gear pump maintenance and repair for ship bunkers SPOB SEA WORL ONE. A gear pump is a type of positive displacement pump where the fluid will flow through the gaps between the gears and the walls of the housing, which is called a pump because the fluid that flows is generally in the form of liquid or slurry. While the positive displacement pump means that the pump sucks a number of trapped fluid which is then pressed and moved towards the outlet. In carrying out ground practice, the cadets know the cause of pump damage and how to maintain and repair the pump. The damage that often occurs to the pump is pump leakage, poor pump performance and wear and tear that occurs in the pump gear. The cause of pump leakage is due to very high pressure from the pump and also poor pump piping factors. Gears that receive a rotating load will wear out because it occurs between metal and metal meeting continuously resulting in wear and tear on the metal. Repairs carried out on pumps by replacing damaged components and performing special welding on worn gears. As for how to care for the gear pump, namely by checking regularly and carrying out maintenance that has been determined in the instruction manual book. This research uses descriptive and qualitative methods. Data was collected by means of interviews, documentation, observation, by observing when the authors carried out land practice. From the observations made by the author, it is known that the SPOB SEA WORLD ONE ship has carried out the bunker process using a gear pump optimally. And to find out the cause of the damage, how to maintain and repair the pump. The results of the discussion of this scientific paper can be concluded, that the damage experienced by the pump and repairs and maintenance are carried out according to procedures with regular maintenance in order to function properly.
