Abstract
An intersection is a place where vehicles from opposite directions, which is commonly referred to as traffic conflict. Correct or appropriate conflict control is needed in order to reduce the potential for collisions between vehlicles. Tegal city stagger intersection, is an unsigned intersection that has four approaching legs where one of the approaching legs of the intersection is shifted to the left so that it is not straight with the aproaching leg of the intersection in front of it. The traffic flow at the stagger intersection in Tegal has not been regulated. This is what causes many intersection conflicts to occur. Therefore,at the intersection, it is necessary to strive for a good regulation or control. The method used in this research is vissim for intersection performance analysis in existing conditions and vissim for handling conditions of intersection. SSAM for analysis of traffic conflicts that occur at intersections. The next step is to provide alternative handling of traffic conflict problems, namely by setting up 2 phases and 4 phases. Then a comparison to the existing condition was done of reduction of traffic conflicts and intersection performance. The alternative for handling the selected intersection is the addition of an APILL with a 4 phase setting and a cycle time of 120 seconds because this alternative is able to reduce traffic conflicts by 46% and a delay value of 34,1eith levels of service C. With a considerable reduction in traffic conflicts and levels of service good the level of intersection safety the tragger will increase. Keyword : Intersection, Conflict, Vissim, SSAM
