Abstract
A traffic accident is not a sure thing to predict when it will happen, all it can do is take precautions. East Coast Road and West Coast Road are Provincial Roads that are often passed by inter-provincial vehicles so that the volume of vehicles increases and does not rule out the possibility of increasing the volume of heavy vehicles which can lead to increased traffic conflicts, especially at intersections. Therefore, a study of secondary management is needed to improve safety and efficiency. Based on this, researchers are conducting studies on a kind of intersection that requires the application of different types of settings. The study is done to reduce the conflict that is raging in the region and to promote safety and traffic flow. MKJI calculations are used for varying performance, using VISSIM software and SSAM to determine conflict, and there is no decrease after alternative application. There are two recommended alternatives, Traffic light installation with 2 phases and 3 phases, which are then compared to the existentially linked performance and decrease in conflict. The most effective alternatives used to support safety and smooth traffic seen by the intersection of performance and decrease in traffic conflict are the second alternative to APILL production of 3 phase. The second alternative is established with an 98% drop in traffic conflict and a length of 22.1 seconds. Keywords : Intersection, Safety, Fluency, Conflict, VISSIM, SSAM
