Abstract
Safety is a state of security, in a safe condition physically, socially, spiritually, financially, politically emotional, work, psychological, or educational and free from threats to these factors. In a safety activity is a very important factor and always occurs in order to create safety in carrying out shipping. This study aims to determine the effect of the role of porters, safety equipment, crew resources, and ship's seaworthiness partially and simultaneously on ship safety at the Port of Tanjung Perak Surabaya (Study on Passenger Ships of PT. PELNI). The population in this study was the crew of the ship with a sample of 100 respondents. The sampling technique used is non-probability sampling with the type of sampling, namely census/total sampling. The analytical method used is descriptive analysis and quantitative analysis, then data analysis using multiple linear regression analysis with the help of (Software) Statistical Package For Social Science (SPSS). The results of the hypothesis test show that the variables of the porter's role, safety equipment, crew resources, and ship's seaworthiness have a partial effect on ship safety at the Port of Tanjung Perak Surabaya (Study on Passenger Ships of PT. PELNI). The results of multiple linear regression analysis obtained Y = -2.260 + 0.279X1 + 0.356X2 + 0.208X3 + 0.332X4 + . From this equation, it is known that the safety equipment variable has a regression coefficient of 0.356. The R² (R Square) test obtained the results of 0.648 or 64.8% which means that the safety of ships at the Port of Tanjung Perak Surabaya is influenced by the variables of the porter's role, safety equipment, crew resources, and ship's seaworthiness which is 64.8% and Another factor that affects the safety of ships at the Port of Tanjung Perak Surabaya is 35.2%.
