Abstract
Excavators are the most versatile heavy equipment because they can handle a variety of other heavy equipment work, this heavy equipment has a main function for excavation work, but is not limited to that, excavators can also perform construction work such as making slopes, loading dump trucks, stone crushers, and etc. Hydraulics is a system for transferring and controlling power by means of a liquid medium. Hydraulic systems take advantage of the physical properties of fluids to make it possible to convert relatively small forces into very large forces. The boom cylinder functions to move the boom during the digging and loading process. Damage to the boom cylinder component can be caused by several factors, including contamination that occurs in the boom cylinder component, the occurrence of internal and external leaks, and the occurrence of overheating in the component parts of the boom cylinder. The purpose of writing is to find out the damage that often occurs in the boom cylinder and to find out how to repair it. The data used in this study is qualitative with data collection methods in the form of interviews, documents, observations, and literature. The results obtained in the form of damage that occurred to the boom cylinder and how to repair it such as a hydraulic hose that has a leak, repair steps are carried out by replacing components, the room cylinder that is damaged in the form of severe scratches then replaces components, o-rings and seals that are damaged. experienced peeling damage on the side due to a lifetime that reaches 2000 hours and can no longer be used then the component is replaced, the piston rod is scratched so that the surface becomes perforated and uneven then the component is replaced, there is a scratch on the piston due to age or dirt is usually found that accumulate, resulting in a scratched piston experiencing severe damage, repairs are carried out by replacing components. Keywords: Excavator, hydraulic, boom cylinder, damage.
