Abstract

In carrying out the handling of cargo ship safety certificates, PT. Bahtera Setia Raya Semarang Branch always extends the safety certificate of the cargo ship before the certificate's validity period ends and knows the number of documents or certificates that must be on the ship. This study aims to determine the process of managing the extension of the cargo ship safety certificate, the obstacles and efforts to overcome the obstacles in handling the cargo ship safety certificate in order to support the smooth operation of the cargo ship handled by PT. Bahtera Setia Raya Semarang branch. The author uses the method of observation, interviews, and literature study. The analytical method used is quantitative and qualitative, namely a way of processing data obtained from oral and written research about the process of processing document extensions for Tugboat Virgo Power 07 & Barge Virgo Sejati 1088 by PT. Bahtera Setia Raya at Tanjung Emas Port, Semarang. Factors hampering the process of obtaining Cargo Ship Safety Equipment, Cargo Ship Safety Construction, and Cargo Ship Safety Radio certificates include the length of processing for the extension of the cargo ship safety certificate due to incomplete navigation facilities and safety equipment on the Tugboat Virgo Power 07 ship, and the length of waiting for the process. inspection of ships carried out by the Marine Inspector, these things cause delays in the issuance of ship safety certificates.
