Abstract
Traffic congestion is a situation or condition of stagnation or even cessation of traffic caused by the number of vehicles that exceed the capacity of the road. If the flow of traffic approaches the road, then congestion begins to occur. One of the traffic problems in transportation that is complicated today is the low ability to provide road network infrastructure, while the level of vehicle flow is increasing. This condition causes traffic jams on various roads. This study aims to determine the effect of traffic volume, side barrier parking characteristics and road conditions partially and simultaneously on road traffic congestion in front of the Indah Swalayan Bangkalan store market with a sample of 100 respondents. The sampling technique used is quota sampling with the type of sampling that is simple random sampling. The analytical method used is descriptive analysis and quantitative analysis, the data were analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis with the help of (software) Statistical Package For Social Science (SPSS). The results showed that the variables of traffic volume, parking characteristics, side barriers and road conditions had a partial and simultaneous effect on traffic congestion on the road in front of the Bangkalan Indah Supermarket. The results of multiple linear regression analysis obtained the equation Y = 2,323+ 0,337X1 + 0,206X2 + 0,375X3 + 0,288X4+ . From the regression equation, it can be seen that the most dominant variable affecting traffic congestion is the side barrier variable with a regression coefficient of 0.375. With the R2 (R Square) test, the results were 792 or 23.2%. which means that road traffic congestion in front of the Indah Swalayan Bangkalan store is influenced by variables of traffic volume, parking characteristics, side barriers and road conditions, namely 23.2% and other factors that affect traffic congestion on the road in the Indah shop front market.
