Abstract
Indonesia is an archipelago with several potential international shipping routes. The shipping lane is an important aspect whose management must consider safety, security and comfort in shipping. Shipping lanes have different depths, resulting in shipwrecks during navigation activities. Shipping safety is a must and Indonesia's obligation to provide safe and comfortable shipping lanes for ships entering Indonesia to pass from all over the world. Tanjung Intan Cilacap Port often occurs when ship tragedies run aground, because ships often pass it by. Safety in navigation is very important, because it relates to human life and cargo on the ship. The purpose of checking the depth is to increase safety when navigating activities in shipping lanes. In carrying out land practice activities the authors conducted the method of observation and interviews in the Class III Navigation District of Cilacap. Based on what the author obtained, knowing the role of the Navigation District, the purpose of the depth checking activity and the constraints when carrying out the depth checking activity.
