Abstract
In this modern era, port services are increasingly needed by companies or organizations as a means to develop an export and import business of a product. Port services at the BP Batam Business Entity Port Office have one service, namely loading and unloading services which are required to work more efficiently, quickly, and precisely so that the loading and unloading process does not take a long time. Port service activities in Indonesia must be improved to support the economy of the beloved country of Indonesia, therefore the BP Batam Business Entity Port Office is increasingly improving its export-import services, especially the time for loading and unloading containers on ships. Port Office Services for BP Batam Business Entities must work efficiently and effectively in order to achieve the desired target and satisfy customers who use port services. Service users want the maximum possible service, therefore port service providers must have the means to maximize the performance of loading and unloading services. By using qualitative research methods and descriptive research design, the sources of research data taken are primary and secondary data. The technique of collecting data is field research which includes interviews and observations, as well as literature and documentation studies, so that the validity of the triangulation data technique is obtained. Judging from the process of loading and unloading containers at the Batu Ampar port, discipline and safety are things that must be fulfilled properly. The loading and unloading activities at the Batu Ampar port are assessed as 70% because there are several obstacles that can be a major factor in the performance of container loading and unloading activities. The advice given is to pay attention to and improve the quality of worker discipline, facilities and infrastructure in the loading and unloading process so that performance in the loading and unloading process of containers at the Batu Ampar Batam port minimizes obstacles that will hinder the loading and unloading process at the Batu Ampar Port.
