Abstract

Sandblasting is one of the easiest methods to remove rust or dirt such as oil, paint, etc. on the surface or to change the character of the surface of a material both to make it coarser or to make it smoother a surface. By applying processes in the system namely by dry sandblasting and wet sandblasting processes. With treatment on the sandblasting process this can reduce corrosion and can reduce damage to the ship. From the work process it can produce good workmanship for the sea on the ship. the process of spraying material is usually in the form of silica sand or steel grit with high pressure on a surface with the aim of removing contamination materials such as rust, paint, salt, oil etc. In addition, it also aims to create a profile (roughness) on the metal surface so that a good level of gluing between metal surfaces can be achieved with a protective material such as paint. The level of roughness can be adjusted to the size of the sand and the pressure. It is necessary to know the success or failure of a painting depends on the level of cleanliness and the level of adhesion between the paint and the surface and the level of density and leveling of the paint itself. At the writing of this paper, at the time of sandblasting, it must always emphasize safety both personally and in groups. Care is very necessary to overcome the damage to the sandblasting device. Perfection in sandblasting is very necessary to support the smoothness of sandblasting. Keywords: Sandblasting, Work Process, Care.
