Abstract
In the current era, the means of transportation are growing rapidly along with the development of needs and technology. Transportation is never separated from our daily activities, every movement of goods/people from one place to another to the destination requires a means of transportation, either motorized or non-motorized. Until now, the problems that we often see in Indonesia are traffic jams, air pollution caused by the large number of motorized vehicles and transportation facilities which are still unresolved problems. The choice of mode becomes an important thing in transportation planning. Therefore, the role of public transportation will be the key to solving this problem, which basically public transportation is more effective and efficient than other private vehicles. The purpose of this study is to find out and test the factors that influence the choice of transportation modes among the factors in this study, namely; the purpose of the trip, travel time, vehicle ownership and travel costs on the choice of mode between Damri buses and motorbikes to get to the Jember urban area by people in Ambulu District. The technique used is non-probability sampling using the proportional random sampling method. Questionnaire data processing is assisted by the SPSS version 26 application. The analytical method used is a quantitative approach to binary logistic regression with the model formula Li = ln (p_i/(1-p_i )) = _0+β_1 x_1+β_2 x_2+β_3 x_3+β_4 x_4 +ui. From the results of binary logistic regression, the model Li = ln (p_i/(1- p_i ))= - 4.321 +0.609x_(1 )+ 0.033x_2 + 0.218x_(3 )+ 0.544x_4. From these results, there are two variables that have a positive and significant effect on the choice of transportation mode to get to the Jember urban area using the Wald test, namely the purpose of the trip (X1) and the cost of the trip (X4) with the contribution of the independent variable to influence the dependent variable is 67.8% and The remaining 32.2% is influenced by variables outside the study. The purpose of the trip affects the choice of transportation mode to get to the urban area of Jember, because the higher the level of community travel destinations, the community will choose to use the Damri bus mode as a mode of transportation to urban areas, while the higher travel costs incurred by the community, the community will prefer bicycles. motorbikes as a mode of transportation to the urban area of Jember.
