Abstract

Traffic congestion is a situation or condition where the vehicle is blocked or even stopped traffic caused by the large number of vehicles that exceed the capacity of the road. With good traffic and highway planning, it can facilitate a stable traffic flow. Thus, it can avoid traffic jams. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that influence traffic congestion on the Semarang-Gubug road section in Mranggen, Demak Regency. With this research sample as many as 99 respondents. The sampling technique used is non - probability sampling incidental sampling type. The analytical method used is multiple linear regression analysis. The regression formulation in this study is as follows: Y=0.492+0.195X1+0.559X2+0.177X3+µ The results of multiple linear regression research show that there is a positive and significant influence between Population Density on traffic congestion (t count 2,273 > t table 1,98472), Road Capacity on Traffic Congestion (t count 5,254 > t table 1,98472 ), Side Barriers to Traffic Congestion (t count 1.991 > t table of 1.98472). The influence of the three research variables is very strong with the correlation coefficient of determination (Adjusted R Square = 0.596) which means 59.6%, the variable coefficient of Population Density, Road Capacity, Side Barriers has an effect on Traffic Congestion, while the remaining 40.4% is influenced by variables outside this study.
