Abstract

The operation of the ship found a lot of jobs both light and heavy which have a high level of risk of work accidents. Accidents often occur due to more than one cause. But accidents can also be prevented by eliminating the things that cause accidents. There are two main causes of an accident that is an unsafe action and unsafe working conditions. Efforts to prevent accidents to ensure the safety of the souls of the crew have factors that often cause workplace accidents, among others, the crew selection process, work safety equipment (personal protective equipment) for machine crew, unsafe work environment situations, knowledge and skills the crew lack, lack of mastery and familiarization of work, and lack of company attention about the Safety of the workers. The way to reduce the risk of work accidents on the ship is that the selection of prospective crew members in accordance with the placement procedure is in accordance with the qualifications of the crew, the company completes work safety equipment for each crew, maintains and maintains harmonious working environment conditions, the crew is given counseling, introduction and familiarization and exercises. And this scientific work uses descriptive methods, where the purpose of this descriptive research is to make a systematic, factual and accurate picture, description or painting of the facts, nature and relationships between the phenomena being investigated.
