Abstract

General service pump is one of the needs that must be met and must be found on a ship. General service is divided into several parts, namely the bilge system, ballast system, fire main system and sea water cooling. General service pump uses a centrifugal type pump, the principle of which works is to convert the kinetic energy (velocity) of the liquid into potential energy (dynamic) though an impeller that rotates in the casing to provide velocity to the liquid and change it to high pressure (head). The purpose of this observation is to know how the ordinance of operation is, as well as how the treatment and the factors responsible for the breakdown of general service pump. The method used in this observation is observation. In addition to using this method the writer also used interviews. And also the used writer libraty research study. Maintenance and repair of the general service pump (GS PUMP) including; Rountine Maintenance is a daily inspection of the equipment installed and in a state of operation, Predictive Maintenance is a maintenance action that is observing objects by taking certain measurements, Preventice Maintenance work in the from of prevention and is carried out routinely according to schedule aims to improve equipment reliability and extend the life of the equipment. The results after carrying out maintenance and repairs on general service pump (GS PUMP) aircraft routinely are faced to reduce the risk of damage to components and extend the service life of the general service pump (GS PUMP), which is useful for tackling marine pollution.
