Abstract
With the abundance of natural coal resources in Indonesia, coal has a very important role in economic activity in Indonesia, especially in the industrial sector. Such as the need for electricity that uses steam, and the material that is burned is coal to be extracted by steam as an alternative main raw material. Given the dense population where the concentration of economic and industrial activities is still centered on the island of Java, it is therefore necessary to have large-scale power plant centers, one of which is the Suralaya Banten coal-fired power plant which has a Java-Bali connection. The coal unloading process is an early stage and plays an important role in supplying coal by using sea transportation modes, namely ships to the coal storage area and processed to become a steam power plant. In the process of loading and unloading coal, of course, handling and unloading equipment is needed to simplify and expedite the process of loading and unloading coal from ships to the space for coal piling. The purpose of the observation and writing of this paper is as a means of adding insight and knowledge about the bulk loading and unloading process of coal at PLTU Suralaya Banten. The method used in carrying out observations is by making observations, interviews and literature reviews which results in a conclusion in providing explicit instructions and information to TKBM to routinely care for, and always check the unloading equipment before the unloading process is carried out and provide directions and training for TKBM and must always establish good communication between the parties concerned.
