Abstract

Writing this paper aims to describe the role of the port management unit in the security and safety sector at Bangsal Pemenang port. Given the Bangsal port has an important role in encouraging the regional economy seen from the number of developments, especially tourism. The background of the problem that the writer must solve is to find out what preparations are carried out by the Port Administration Unit in the field of safety, what are the tools used in supporting shipping safety and what are the duties of the port management unit in order to improve shipping security and safety. Writing this paper has the aim of being able to understand the preparations carried out by the port management unit in the field of shipping safety, to be able to use safety tools used in supporting shipping safety and to understand the duties of the port management unit in order to improve shipping security and safety. Based on data observations made during ground practice (prada), the authors used several methods, namely, the method of observation, interviews, documentation and literature study. The results of the discussion of the problems of this paper are to find out: To find out the preparations carried out by the Port Management Unit in the field of safety, To find out the tools used in supporting Shipping safety and To find out the duties of the port management unit in order to improve shipping security and safety. The conclusion of this paper is that the authorized officer is obliged to continue to carry out surveillance until the ship is no longer used, in order to re-confirm the truth of the facts of the ship's maritime conditions, the importance of safety and security equipment relating to transportation in waters and ports as well as supervision of fulfillment of safety and security requirements relating to transportation in waters, ports and the maritime environment.
