Abstract

Sailing Navigation Assistance Facility is a device or system outside the ship which is designed and operated and has a function to assist ships in navigating across shipping lanes. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the routes of Indonesian sea crossings for the benefit of local and international shipping. Sailing Navigation Assistance Facilities must function properly to support shipping security and safety in the working area of the Class III Navigation District office in Cilacap. This paper aims to determine the role of Class III Cilacap Navigation District in optimizing the functions of Sailing Navigation Aids, knowing what are the obstacles and being able to put into practice the proper and effective maintenance procedures for Sailing Navigation Aids. Sources of data in this observation use primary data and secondary data. The data collection methods used in this observation were obtained from observations, interviews, and literature methods. The results of this paper show that the Class III Navigation District of Cilacap has the obligation and responsibility to maintain and care for and provide reserves for Sailing Navigation Assistance Facilities so that Sailing Navigation Assistance Facilities are always optimal. It can be concluded that even though in optimizing the functions of the Navigation Assistance Facilities for Navigation Class III Cilacap there are still several factors that become obstacles, the Class III Cilacap Navigation District does the best it can in carrying out its duties in order to realize sailing security and safety.
