Abstract
Maintenance of Safety Equipment is the most important thing in maintaining the reliability of the facilities needed by modern society, but only a few fields are able to play such a dominant role as in the world of sailing. Maintaining or maintaining the condition of the ship, is the main goal of every maintenance action. This purpose is to determine the safety of the safety equipment onboard, the treatment of safety equipment as a support for the safety of the crew at MV.Basarnas. Based on these objectives, the material raised is entitled "Maintenance of rescue equipment for victims on board the MV.Basarnas Bandung". The method used by the writer in writing this is descriptive method. The research object is MV.Basarnas. The data method uses field studies, library research (research libraries) and documentation. Based on the results of the research that has been done, several conclusions can be drawn that the things that cause the safety equipment to not function optimally when used in training at MV. Basarnas is caused by a lack of understanding of the correct handling procedures. Work safety equipment is in accordance with safety equipment maintenance regulations according to Solas (Safety Of Life at Sea) and due to the lack of safety equipment maintenance equipment facilities provided by the company so that maintenance activities are not maximized. Because the method of maintaining safety equipment is the basis for increasing efficiency in optimizing the activities of safety equipment on the ship so that safety equipment can be used optimally by all crew members in the event of an emergency.
