Abstract
Electro Motor (Electric Motor) is an electromagnetic device that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. This mechanical energy is used to rotate the impeller of the ejector pump. The ejector pump plays an important role in supplying seawater to fresh water generators. Freshwater generators produce seawater into freshwater. Therefore the electro motor performance has a big effect on freshwater production. The purpose of this paper is to find out how to operate and maintain the electromotor, How to prevent overload on the electromotor. And knowing the cause of damage to the electromotor. The methods are used in writing paper are the method of observation. The other method is the interview method and the literature method. The results of the discussion in this paper are that the electromotor on the ejector pump can work optimally without problems. This resulted in the operation of the freshwater generator auxiliary engine running smoothly. The operation of the electromotor is following the procedure and maintenance properly. A thermal overload relay is installed to prevent system damage in the event of an overload. The conclusion from the discussion of this scientific paper, the occurrence of electromotor overload is caused by narrowing of the ejector pump pressure pipe. Bearings that are overheated or gland packing is too tight. The electromotor can work properly if maintenance must be carried out every week according to the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure). Keywords: Electro Motor, overload, Thermal Overload Relay.
