Abstract
The lifeboat is part of the navigation equipment that must be fulfilled in shipbuilding. the lifeboat serves to transport the ship's crew during an emergency. Therefore, lifeboats are very important for safety on board. The purpose of this safety is to determine the lifeboat's maintenance, and the drain on the lifeboat's lowering failure. The method used in writing scientific papers is the method of observation (observation). Apart from the interview method (interview), the literature method. From the results of the discussion in this paper, namely. lifeboats are very important to support safety on board. This resulted in the operation of the lifeboat running smoothly. The maintenance of the lifeboats was in accordance with the procedure properly. Discussion of this paper, The failure to lower the lifeboats was due to the lack of maintenance. For lifeboats to work properly, maintenance must be carried out weekly according to operational standards .Keywords: lifeboats, safety, maintenance.
