Abstract
Fire is one of the risks that can occur anytime and anywhere in the activities cruise ships, the risk of fires on ships large enough for the number of cases of fires ranked second after the number of the sinking of the ship. International Maritime Organization (IMO) issued several regulations aimed at ensuring the safety of operation of ships and the prevention of pollution, one of which is 74 SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea). Due to the high level of fire risk that could occur on ships and lead substantial financial losses even until the casualties that number is not small, we need a fire prevention system, especially on passenger ships. The study design used in this research is descriptive qualitative approach observational and interview. The purpose of this research is to know the evaluation of countermeasures system fire on board KM. CENGKEH 8 by comparing factors at prevention system. fires which includes: active protection means (such as: detector and alarm, fire hydrant and fire pump, sprinkler), a means of passive protection (in the form of: escape (doors, stairs, riving directions and emergency exit) emergency lighting (emergency lighting), muster station (gathering place), and fire door (fireproof doors).
