Abstract
The contribution of Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi dan Geofisika (BMKG) in provide very important weather news report information for marine transportation. In thing of assisting shipping safety, the Maritime BMKG Station sends the results of weather observations to the coastal radio using a fax which is then sent by the coastal radio to ships passing through the Semarang Maritime BMKG service area. Observations in sense of meteorology are called Observation and carried out using tools along with visual observation. The purpose of conducting this research is to know the tools and procedures used by the Tanjung Emas BMKG Station Semarang to predict and analyze the weather, to know the role of the Tanjung Emas Semarang BMKG Station in disseminating weather information to fishermen / ships in the interests of safety, and knowing the obstacles faced by the Tanjung BMKG Station. Emas Semarang in informing the weather report. So that the Observer must know about how the equipment works, equipment maintenance and measurement and operation of the equipment, the provisions concerning the accuracy of data collection. In solving this problem using observation methods / way of observation must pay attention to the properties of an object, considering that objects are not only one and different, seasons also affects the properties of one object to another. Hence the role of the Observer (the person in charge of making observations) is to make observations and takes full responsibility for this so that to obtain accurate observation data. Optimization of observations like this determines weather forecast information for shipping safety. This observation is useful to be able to find out how the Maritime BMKG's contribution of conveying weather information to those in need. The results obtained from the research can be useful for many parties, especially fishermen, to know more about the contribution of the Maritime BMKG in delivering weather information to help fishermen in shipping safety.
