Abstract
Lubricating oil in a machinery system functions to minimize friction on the surface of moving and tangent components. In addition, lubricating oil also functions as a cooling fluid on several motors. Because in this case the diesel motor used is included in the type of motor with a large lubrication capacity, then the lubrication system for parts or mechanical motors is assisted by a lubricating pump. This system is used to cool and lubricate engine bearings and cool the piston. One of the causes of errors in choosing lubricants for ship machinery is the lack of knowledge and skills in lubricants, which can be fatal because it can damage engine components that are not in accordance with the specifications of the manufacturer of lubricants. Knowledge of the absolute lubricant material must be owned by the crew in working on the boat. besides that the crew is also required to know and understand about lubricants that are often used in the field of machinery on the ship to avoid mistakes in the selection of lubricants used on the ship. Low / cold temperatures can result in high viscosity of lubricating oil, making it difficult to suck in the pump. This can be influenced by the surrounding temperature or cooler with a low temperature cooler due to sea water temperature conditions. Therefore a heater / heater is needed to help the pump work. If this condition is more severe then replace the lubricating oil with a new one. Keywords : Lubrication System, Plan Maintenance System, Viscocity.
