Abstract
The role in the use of safety equipment is one of the efforts to prevent or reduce accidents at work. Therefore, it is hoped that all crew members or crew members who work on the ship should always use safety equipment when working on the deck or in the engine room to avoid unwanted things such as accidents. The purpose of this study was to determine the causes of work accidents on board. This research was conducted at the KNP. 330 KSOP Khusus Batam. Sources of data obtained are primary data obtained directly from the research site by observing and direct questioning with officers and crew members and reviewing literature and literature related to research. The data processing method used is the descriptive method, the writer tries to observe the cases that often occur on the ship due to the lack of discipline of the crew, then makes important notes about the causes and solutions that will be used to improve the discipline of the crew when doing work. This is obtained from this study showing that the occurrence of work accidents on board is due to the lack of discipline of the crew about the importance of using safety equipment when doing a job.
