Abstract
OPTIMIZATION OF SAFETY EQUIPMENT IN KM KIRANA I AS SOLAS 1974 This Scientific Writing aims to determine the optimization of maintenance of safety equipment in KM KIRANA I according to the provisions of SOLAS 1974. The background of this writing is because when checking the safety equipment in KM KIRANA I the writer found several lifejackets that did not meet the standards. This research method uses a qualitative method in which this method produces data by interviewing directly the KM KIRANA I. The results of the discussion are, maintenance of safety equipment is regulated in SOLAS 1971, which in the rules has been stated that there are standard procedures in tool maintenance - safety equipment that must be carried out and also in ISM CODE there are management rules that must be implemented for the safety of the crew. Conclusions that can be drawn from the maintenance of safety equipment, namely, maintenance of safety equipment must be carried out according to procedures, so that the creation of security during the shipping process Keywords: Optimization, Safety Tools, SOLAS.
