Abstract

Passenger safety is a condition where everyone avoids the risk of accidents during traffic caused by humans, vehicles, roads, and / or the environment, considering the important and strategic role of road traffic and transportation which concerns driving safety standards which are important for the entire community. This study aims to determine the factors that affect vehicle conditions, traffic rules and load capacity on passenger safety (Study of Service Users in the Field of Vehicle Testing for the Transportation Agency, West Sumba Regency). This research was conducted on service users in the motorized vehicle testing field of West Sumba Regency Transportation Agency as a sample. Data collection was carried out through the method of observation, literature study, interviews, documentation and questionnaires. The analysis technique used is multiple linear regression with the help of the SPSS V.23 program. Based on the results of research and multiple analysis, the following equation is generated: Y = 0.539 + 0.192X1 + 0.189X2 + 0.545X3 + µ Based on empirical facts (the results of filling out the questionnaire) and the results of the multiple linear regression equation, it shows that the Vehicle Condition variable vehicle conditions (X1) has t count (2.246)> t table (1.98472), the Traffic Order variable (X2) t count (2.292) > t table (1.98472), and the load capacity variable t count (5.318)> t table (1.98472). Meanwhile, the value of Adjusted R2 = 0.604. This means that 60.4% of the variation in the dependent variable (Y), namely Passenger safety can be explained or caused by the independent variables, namely Vehicle Condition (X1), Traffic Rules (X2), and Load Capacity (X3). While the rest (100% - 60.4% = 39.6%), was explained by other causes outside the variables studied. Thus the results of the study indicate that the condition of the vehicle, traffic rules and load capacity have a positive and significant effect on passenger safety in the city of Waikabubak. Keywords: Vehicle condition, Traffic Rules, Load Capacity, Passenger Safety.
