Abstract
Jakarta's Tanjung Priok Maritime Meteorological Station is a technical implementation group under the Climatology and Geophysics Meteorological Agency (BMKG) which is a Non-Departmental Government Institution (LPND) which is engaged in providing services. One of the main tasks is to observe meteorological elements and make weather forecasts for the northern waters of Pangkal Pinang, Gelasa Strait, northern Bangka Strait, southern Bangka Strait, southern Karimata Strait, western Java Sea, Kep waters. Seribu, the northern waters of West Java, the waters south of West Java, the Indian Ocean south of West Java. especially for maritime or marine services. The purpose of this study is to determine the procedures and mechanisms that must be prepared by BMKG before carrying out observations, knowing the positive impact of weather observations on navigation safety. The method in solving this problem directly to the field. weather forecast data used for marine information such as wave data, wind data, weather data, tide data and other data related to marine information that is sent through the website in traffic on ssb and navtex. Based on the facts obtained and research on the Role of Class I Maritime Priory of Tanjung Priok Jakarta in an effort to help navigate ship safety in Tanjung Priok, Jakarta, it can draw conclusions, research observations are still lacking in the preparation of BMKG before carrying out observations and need improvement through guidance training observation procedure skills and need to optimize in disseminating BMKG products to the crew so that they are aware of the safety of sailing and the general public must be aware of the role of BMKG. From this research we can learn a lesson that is the important role of BMKG in navigating safety but in its application BMKG is still less than optimal in carrying out its duties and with this it is expected that BMKG will be more leverage in carrying out its duties.
