Abstract

Ship sanitation is any effort shown to environmental factors on the ship to break the chain of disease transmission in order to maintain and enhance health. The existence of vectors and nuisance animals on ships can affect the health conditions of crew members, because vectors and nuisance animals can transmit disease to humans. The purpose of observation is to know the behavior of ship crews on sanitary health of ships that rely on the work area of the Port Health Office class 3 in Tuban. This observation was carried out to determine the relationship of ship sanitation and the behavior of ship crews with the presence of vectors and mice. This observation was carried out by means of checking the sanitation of the ship that was the object, the MV. Oceanic Joy, which rests at the port of PT. Semen Indonesia Tuban branch, by means of a direct inspection on the ship can find out the behavior of the crew of the ship to cleanliness which cleanliness can guarantee good or bad sanitation on the ship. The conclusion of this observation is to optimize the crew of the ship to sanitize the ship, it is recommended for ship owner companies to improve attention to ship sanitation and the behavior of the crew so that the ship does not have risk factors to invite the presence of vectors and mice.
